There are many types of racing sports in this world and two of the most famous are Nascar and Formula One. One has a major following in America and the other has a major following in most of the world, however they both have their positives and negatives. Formula One has some of the best drivers in the world competing and they also have some of the best and fastest cars in the world. The likes of Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Honda are all a part, or have been a part, of Formula One. Drivers like Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Sebastien Vettel are all international superstars who earn tens of millions of dollars to race for their respective teams.

However, there is a lot about Nascar that makes it more fun than Formula One. While Formula One has a lot of tactics involved, such as strategic pitstops, tire types and other complicated details, Nascar is a lot simpler and is just about pure racing. However, one negative aspect to Nascar that many people complain about is that their tracks are too predictable. While Formula One tracks have kerbs, straights and slow corners, Nascar drivers go around an oval for 200 laps for two or three hours. However, each sport is brilliant in its own way and should be celebrated.

One of the all time favorite NASCAR drivers has to be Dale Earnhardt. He has won numerous titles and was the first NASCAR driver inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Earnhardt drew a lot of criticism for not attending all the festivities before the open of the 2001 Daytona 500. However he seemed confidant and ready to turn in a great performance at the event. Sadly Dale Earnhardt died that day, when his car was disabled in turn four, he got out of the car, and was hit by another car. The car that hit Dale Earnhardt was driven by NASCAR driver Ken Schrader. He said he tried to avoid hitting Earnhardt. However Dale Earnhardt, died later that day in a local hospital. His son, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was also racing that day, and witnessed the crash that was the impetus for his father’s death. Many, reforms to NASCAR rules and regulations were enforced, in response to Earnhardt’s tragic death. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is a current huge fan favorite, and is carrying on his father’s NASCAR legacy. Dale Jr. brings a lot of excitement to the sport, he has 412 wins from 1999 -2011. He is sure to continue to thrill.
